Making a Simple Wheel/Cylinder

Making a wheel involves the use of splines, and may take some practice to get some actual wheels going.  You can also use this method to make cylinders.  This is only one way, I'm sure there are many others, but this is how I make my wheels.

The first step is to select the Create>Spline>Linestrip as shown.

Then, in the side view, create a shape that looks something as follows, clicking to create a point.  Right click anywhere to end the spline:

Remember that this is only half the wheel heightwise, so don't make the top line too long.  Also, do not make the horizontal line too long, or you will get a long cylinder, and you will have to scale the new object.  Start your spline where the larger square is.

After you are done this, select the Create>Surface>Revolution tool as shown below.

Click on the circled points in both the side and front view.  Click on the point in the side view first!

You will then be prompted with a window similar to the following:

If you want the tire to be more rounded, with more polygons, then have a larger number.  I do not recommend anything higher than 20 or anything less than 8.  You should use something in the 12-15 range.

After you press OK, press Yes when prompted for Cap Start and Cap End.

You will end up with a shape like this in your 3D view:

You can copy this wheel and place it in all four wheel wells of your car.
